Thermphos International BV the first ISO 22000 certified chemical company in Europe
Thermphos in Vlissingen managed to obtain the ISO 22000 certificate. Thermphos is the first chemical company in Europe to obtain an accredited ISO 22000 certificate. Thermphos is also the first company to which SGS Systems & Services Certification, part of the SGS Group will grant such an accredited certificate in The Netherlands. Location Vlissingen is the first step in a multisite program where Thermphos intends to certify a total of six production sites worldwide.
With the unique achievement, Thermphos proves to the general public that it meets the more stringent standards of the new ISO 22000 standard. The new global standard was published in September 2005 and covers the requirements of all the parallel global and regional food safety management standards.
During the assessment procedure, a preliminary review of the food safety management system and the system documentation was conducted, with special attention for the evaluation of completeness and correctness of hazard analysis, identification and control of risks associated with all Foodgrade-related processes and raw materials. Special attention was given to application of relevant food safety legislation and regulation. Subsequently, the elements of the food safety plan, the conformity of the documentation developed and it effective implementation was assessed on-site.
