Polyphosphates have several functions within leather treatment.
- SHMP acts as a protein coagulant.
- SHMP aids penetration of chrome tanning agents.
- SHMP, TETRON and STPP are sequestrants, controlling metal impurities.
- DSPP is active in vegetable tanning systems.
- SHMP can be used as a post tannage treatment.
