Description:White phosphorus, or yellow phosphorus as it's commonly referred to, is produced by Thermphos International in an electrothermal process. Of all the forms of elemental phosphorus, white phosphorus is the most reactive. It is the parent compound for a very wide range of chemistry. Starting from phosphorus' first derivatives, such as chlorides, sulphides and phosphoric acid, a world of organophosphorus compounds and defined phosphates is accessible.

White phosphorus is a waxy solid which melts at 44 °C. It is available in several grades of purity.

Applications:Production of Phosphorus derivatives.
Shelf life:Indefinite if properly stored. Exposure to light may cause discolouration and the formation of red phosphorus (see Safety Data Sheet(s) for storage instructions)
